ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer)

ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) is a high-performance fluoroplastic combining chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and processability. It finds extensive applications across industrial, architectural, and aerospace sectors.

    Key Features

    ✔ Mechanical Properties

    ● Tensile strength reaches 50 MPa – nearly twice that of PTFE.

    ● Excellent tear resistance, creep resistance, and long-term dimensional stability.

    ● Elongation at break exceeds 300%.

    ● Maintains high impact strength at cryogenic temperatures (-80°C / -112°F).

    ✔ Chemical & Thermal Properties

    ● Exceptional corrosion resistance against strong acids, alkalis, and organic solvents.

    ● Melting point: 265–280°C (509–536°F); long-term service temperature: 180°C (356°F); short-term tolerance to higher temperatures.

    ● Maintains ductility at cryogenic temperatures with a low brittle point.

    ✔ Electrical Properties

    ● Stable electrical insulation performance with high dielectric strength and voltage endurance.

    ● Ideal for wire/cable insulation and electronic components.

    ✔ Processing & Bonding Characteristics

    ● Processable via extrusion and injection molding across a wide temperature window.

    ● Coefficient of linear thermal expansion similar to carbon steel, enabling effective metal compounding.

    ● Solves traditional PTFE's poor metal adhesion issues.

    ✔ Weathering & Optical Properties

    ● Visible light transmittance up to 95%, suitable for architectural glazing.

    ● Strong self-cleaning surface properties.

    ● Resistant to UV radiation, extreme temperatures, and atmospheric pollutants.

    ● Minimal aging during prolonged outdoor exposure.
