Kel-F® - PCTFE (Polychlorotrifluoroethylene)

Kel-F® - PCTFE (Polychlorotrifluoroethylene) (also known as Neoflon®) is a fluorocarbon-based polymer commonly abbreviated as PCTFE. It combines unique physical/mechanical properties, non-flammability, chemical resistance, near-zero moisture absorption, and exceptional electrical performance. These characteristics are unmatched by other thermoplastic fluoropolymers, with a service temperature range of -240°C to +240°C (-400°F to +464°F). PCTFE exhibits extremely low outgassing, making it ideal for aerospace and aviation applications.

    Key Features

    ✔ Physical & Mechanical Properties

    • Stable performance across extreme temperatures: -400°F to +400°F (-240°C to +204°C)

    • Near-zero moisture absorption (<0.01%) with retained mechanical strength at elevated temperatures

    • Ultra-low outgassing characteristics suitable for high-vacuum environments

    ✔ Chemical & Weathering Resistance

    • Exceptional chemical resistance to strong acids, alkalis, and organic solvents

    • Non-flammable (UL94 V-0 rated) – neither melts nor drips at high temperatures

    ✔ Electrical Properties

    • Superior insulation properties with high dielectric strength for electronic encapsulation

    • Outstanding radiation resistance for high-radiation environments (e.g., nuclear facilities)

    Key Applications

    • Cryogenic valve seals, chemical processing components

    • Electronic component encapsulation, ultra-high vacuum systems

    • Medical devices (e.g., surgical implant materials)
