Market Demand
- 5G/6G: By 2025, the global demand for 110 GHz test interfaces for 6G pre-commercial equipment prototypes is expected to reach 500,000 ports per year, with Chinese manufacturers accounting for approximately 35% of the market share.
- Satellites: Low-Earth orbit constellation high-speed data transmission terminals (Q/V bands) require a large number of 1.85 mm/2.4 mm-class radiation-resistant insulators, with each satellite requiring over 30 units.
- Research and Development: Terahertz radar and radio astronomy applications have fragmented demand for 1.0 mm ultra-precision insulators, with annual total volumes below 10,000 units, but with extreme sensitivity to performance.
Challenges and Observations
- Mass production consistency: Achieving 99% consistency on the production line compared to 99% in the laboratory requires addressing engineering challenges such as ceramic sintering warpage and metal layer adhesion.
- Cost: Currently, imported 110 GHz insulators cost over 200 USD per unit. If domestic production reaches a scale of 50,000 units per month, the cost could be reduced to below 80 USD.
- Standards: There are no domestic military or industry standards for 110 GHz coaxial interfaces. Companies like Dehao often use MIL-PRF-39012 or IEC 61169-1 as alternatives, and future efforts should focus on localising standards.
"Our continuous R&D investment, especially in material innovation for 110GHz products, has led to this critical breakthrough," said Dr. Jonathon, CTO of DEHAO Precision. "We can now provide more stable, higher-frequency connectivity solutions."
