PC Material

PC material (polycarbonate) is a high-performance engineering plastic, with its core characteristics and applications as follows:

    Basic characteristics

    physical property

    High transparency: With a light transmittance of over 90%, it is comparable to glass and suitable for optical applications.

    Strong and impact-resistant: The notched impact strength of the cantilever beam reaches 600–900 J/m, which is three times that of ordinary engineering plastics, earning it the nickname "transparent metal".

    Lightweight: Low density (approximately 1.2 g/cm³), making it lighter and more portable than glass and metal.

    Temperature resistance and stability

    Heat resistance range: Long-term use temperature -40℃–120℃, heat distortion temperature 135℃, short-term resistance up to 180℃.

    Weather resistance: UV resistance (requires UV coating optimization); stable in weak acid and weak alkali environments, but prone to corrosion in strong alkali and some solvents.

    Low moisture absorption: Dimensional stability in humid environments, excellent electrical insulation properties.

    processing constraints

    Strict drying (moisture content <0.02%) is required before injection molding or extrusion, otherwise cracking is prone to occur;

    Internal stress may lead to environmental stress cracking.

    Main application areas

    Electronic appliances: mobile phone casings, LED lamp covers, connectors, with consideration given to both insulation and impact resistance;

    Automotive industry: headlight covers, dashboard components, high temperature resistance and weight reduction.
