The Unique Properties of PCTFE The uniqueness of PCTFE stems from the chlorine atoms in its molecular structure, which enable it to build upon the excellent properties of fluoropolymers (such as chemical resistance, non-flammability, etc.) and exhibit three significant advantages:

1. Exceptional Barrier Properties The chlorine atoms result in a tighter molecular chain packing, granting PCTFE superior barrier capabilities against gases and water vapor, far exceeding those of PTFE. This makes it the material of choice for high-end pharmaceutical and electronic component packaging.

2. Outstanding Mechanical Properties It possesses high rigidity, hardness, and creep resistance, allowing it to function reliably as a corrosion-resistant precision structural component (e.g., gears, valves) under load for extended periods, overcoming PTFE's shortcomings of being relatively soft and prone to deformation.

3. Transparency and Moldability It can be produced in transparent forms and, as a thermoplastic, can be processed by methods like injection molding and extrusion. This facilitates the manufacturing of complex parts and applications requiring visibility, such as sight glasses.

Key Differentiation:  By partially replacing fluorine atoms with chlorine atoms, PCTFE sacrifices some high-temperature resistance (long-term use around 150°C) to gain  high barrier performance, high strength, and processability —properties that PTFE lacks. This makes PCTFE an irreplaceable, specialized material in critical fields such as semiconductors and pharmaceutical packaging.
