Torlon® Polyamide-imide (PAI)

Torlon® Polyamide-imide (PAI) delivers exceptional compressive strength and the highest elongation among Torlon® grades. It provides electrical insulation and outstanding impact resistance. With its high dielectric strength, this Torlon® grade is commonly used in IC test sockets, processors, electrical connectors, and insulators. Its ability to withstand high loads across broad temperature ranges makes it ideal for structural components like linkages and seals. Torlon® 4203 is also an excellent choice for wear applications involving impact loads and abrasive wear.

    Key Features

    ✔ High-Temperature Performance

Maintains superior properties at temperatures up to 275°C (525°F) – ranking among the highest heat-resistant thermoplastics.

    ✔ Mechanical Properties

    • Strength & Stiffness: Highest strength and stiffness retention at 275°C among all thermoplastics

    • Wear Resistance: Suitable for high load/high-speed friction scenarios (bearings, seals)

    • Creep Resistance: Maintains dimensional stability with minimal deformation at elevated temperatures

    ✔ Electrical Properties

    • Superior insulation properties and arc resistance for electronic components (connectors, switches)

    ✔ Additional Characteristics

    • Lubricity: Special formulations reduce coefficient of friction for lubrication-free bearings

    • Chemical Stability: Resists numerous chemical solvents in corrosive environments

    Primary Applications

Aerospace components, semiconductor equipment, oil drilling tools, and other extreme operating conditions.
